Wyoming Association of Irrigation Districts
WAID

May contain: outdoors, nature, cliff, water, mountain, valley, canyon, and rock

We are a new organization that was formally formed on June 6, 2023, as an Association with the Wyoming Secretary of State and are a 501 (c) 5 non-profit, tax exempt entity with the IRS (which allows the Association to formally lobby for the benefit of the districts) and allows for the membership dues to be a tax deductible expense and are not considered charitable contributions or gifts.

In regard to the purpose of the Association, which  is to share information for the betterment of our Districts, share solutions to common issues, and lobby our State and Federal governments, we are currently  focusing on these three issues:

  • Moving water rights within Irrigation Districts at no cost or minimal cost.
  • Working with the Conservation Easement Program to save Irrigated Farmland from urban developement.
  • Formally asking State Legislators to update W.S. 41-7-412 and W.S. 41-7-813.
    • Both statutes pertain to the minimum dollars for work that must be put out to bid.  Currently the values are $7500 and $1000 respectively.  We are asking that both be raised to $75,000.  This is inline with what they did for the cities and counties in 2023.

We are here to protect Wyoming's Irrigators. Whether your water is supplied through a BOR dam or straight from a river or creek, we are an association here to serve you.  Please discuss this opportunity at your next board meeting and consider joining us as a unified organization for the betterment of ALL of Wyoming's Irrigators

At this time the membership dues for each voting district is $500.00 and Associate non- voting membership for $200.00.

Together we can have a positive influence in the State.
